Alejandra Moros

If you didn't know any better, you might think Alejandra Moros is based in Los Angeles. As she's said herself, "I am just going to pretend like I live here" forgoing the typical touristy activities. In the five weeks of Flower Residency, she's already left a huge mark on the LA art scene. Since day one, when I took her to Princess Castle open studios, she's developed lifelong friendships.

The only hint that Alejandra is not from LA is she embodies Miami where she is from. You'll notice long nails, tattoos, hoop earrings and tropical flowers. The details come together in her personal style where the sum is greater than the parts. Alejandra Moros is confident in who she is.

You have to be confident to achieve flawless details, and Alejandra is all about the details. She examines everything up close. Each work captures a level of depth you might not even notice until you see her macro-rendered version. She confidently achieves these flawless details by oil painting in a single layer.

Imagine you put hours and hours into a painting. You stay up past 4 am to complete it. But something goes wrong. You wake up the next day and what do you do? You probably set the painting aside to work on later or you toil with it for another couple days to try to fix it. Not Alejandra Moros. She scraps the entire painting because there is no turning back. She heads to the beach and is right back at it the following day.
